The Possibilities of the Brushpen: VikaVita Workshop.
Budapest, MOME
Long time no see here! But we’ve been actively attending conferences and workshops every year. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we’ve even been attending workshops and conferences around the world more frequently than before 2022. We always write about this on our IG account.
Also, we often find ourselves in different cities and places as speakers or invited masters. We’d like to share about our trip to Budapest. Our workshop was for second-year graphic design students at MOME University in Budapest. We had three and a half days. Despite having little to no knowledge of calligraphy beforehand, the students achieved excellent results. We’ll show some photos ;)
Now we have good adapted handwriting Handout from Cyrillic to English where brushpen is shown in two techniques — like a pointed pen and like a flat pen. It’s interesting, what to do with them, maybe sell them? :)
Thank you so much to Simon Péter for the invitation! In fact, the idea to come here emerged back in the summer of 2022 when Peter and Vika were at the XX+2 TGA conference in Raabs an der Thaya (Austria). Almost two years have passed, and here we are. It’s nice when what the plan actually happens!
Our first trip abroad was to Budapest, many years ago, where we fell in love with the city and the poster design just on the streets, it was more experimental than in Kyiv. We also fell in love with the Victor Vasarely Museum. And of course, the secession style, which is mixed here with constructivism.
Later on, we got acquainted with the work of László Moholy-Nagy, the Hungarian artist and photographer, a professor at the Bauhaus school.
The university where we had our course was named after him.
And here we are, it’s beautiful and cozy here!
This year, we plan to actively travel with lectures and workshops throughout Europe. If you’re interested, follow us on Instagram!
