Speakers. There was only one day to listen to all the presentations, and it was enough. 25–30 minutes per presentation, with a couple of 45-minute ones.
I really liked how the program was organized. It was divided into 4 parts, each with three speakers, with a 25-minute break between them and a 1.5-hour lunch break. Everything was in one place, so it was impossible to get lost or feel exhausted from the presentations.
The first speakers were Zoo. A brief but intense speech. The fonts, logo for the Musée d’Orsay, and the overall approach — impressive. The minimalism and aesthetics in their projects — really like that.
Carolina Laudon, a designer from Sweden, whom we have known and followed for many years. The pioneer among female type designers in Shweden, generally in northern Europe. Her presentation had some interesting points! Also, the fonts from the favorite “non-milk” brand👌
Shaun Loftman. An incredible presentation based on “the good, the bad, and the ugly”…design. We are impressed!
The second part of the presentations began with a speech by Marta Cerdà Alimbau. I’ve wanted to hear her for a long time! A creative approach in many projects and multidisciplinary in typography — wow.
Plus, I really liked the comparison of different AI platforms for image generation—showed the differences and comparisons.
Graham Sturt from Monotype talked about the trends for 2024 and what they are based on. Protests and, of course, music. Each genre has its own style.Very interesting!
Leslie David — unfortunately, we didn’t know her work before! But simply amazing! Please check out her portfolio. Her works are filled with a love for live plants and naturalness. It was also fascinating to hear how the brand was created. From the letter of the Glossier founder to Leslie, who did not yet have enough works in her portfolio. But the collaboration was based on trust. Together, they achieved such a result (thanks to the design as well) that in a short time, the founder became a millionaire :)
Jeremy Tankard👌 Unfortunately, we were delayed after lunch to rehearse our speech and caught the end of his presentation. But according to other conference attendees, it was the most informative and interesting lecture (not just a speech). We don’t have photos... Later, Jeremy approached us after the conference and said he listened to us with interest, thank you!
Raissa Pardini with incredible experiments. Informative, interesting, concise — super! She’s also a musician!
Paul Shaw. We have been following his work for a long time. For us, as calligraphers primarily, this speech was the most anticipated. It was interesting to hear about the calligraphers Paul highlights. The background featured a presentation of the works of calligrapher artists. Not as popular as we would like, but who set the pace for the development of calligraphy art for generations to come.
Then there was a break and our speech. We made a presentation based on the Ukrainian alphabet. Here are some screenshots:
The photos were taken by different people, but mostly by Kateryna (thank you for coming!)
We hope it was interesting for the guests to listen to us. Judging by the tags on Instagram, it was interesting.
Special thanks to Julie Soudanne for introducing us to the audience and for asking questions at the end of our speech!
The last ones were the incredible and very stylish Violaine & Jérémy. Incredible works and wonderful people😍
Then there was a panel discussion about Type Education. Interesting thoughts: Veronika Burian, Carolina Laudon, Paul Shaw, Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer (Glyphs app) and Elliot Jay Stocks.
Thanks for the invitation once again Jean François Porchez!
It was wonderful!
Of course, this should be listened to live. It’s hard to retell everything.
As for our presentation, maybe we should do another presentation on the same topic, what do you think? Because we never repeat presentations and always create something new for each event. Maybe this approach isn’t the best, but it’s boring to say the same thing twice, that’s a fact, haha.
Actually, we always share something new on our Instagram, so follow us there for the latest information!
Thank you for your attention!
